Individual and Couples Therapy
I offer individual and couples therapy for adolescents and adults. I frequently work with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma, chronic pain, and women’s health issues, as well as concerns related to identity work, young adults, educational goals and career growth.
I also have a particular expertise in navigating, strengthening and nourishing healthy relationships over the lifespan, including:
- Intimate relationships: Dating in the age of social media, pre-marital work, finding a partner who is right for you.
- Marriage and partner counseling: Engage in healthier and more effective communication strategies, increase connection and intimacy, and improve conflict management.
- Family planning: Deciding whether to have children, infertility, relationship stress and changes during pregnancy and early parenting.
- Parent-child relationship: Especially during challenging adolescent years and the transition to college.
- Employment relationships: Navigating stressful work relationships, improving work relationships to help your career trajectory, and setting appropriate work-life balance goals.
- Caregiver support: Managing a loved one’s care, while balancing your own needs.
- Grief and loss of relationships: Managing overwhelming emotions, dealing with divorce, friendship ruptures, illness, and death.
- Self-exploration and self-care: Our relationship with our “self” is important! Working on learning about yourself, your needs, your wants and embracing and learning to love yourself. Create healthy boundaries, nourish your body and mind, and exercise self-care in the face of daily stressors and demands.
Group Therapy
I co-lead long-term psychotherapy groups. Group therapy is a particularly effective way to address issues related to interpersonal, professional, romantic and familial relationships. Group members can offer a source of support, normalization and honest feedback for each other. Group therapy is unique because each person is there to work on personal growth, and members do not have contact or competing relationships outside of group. This offers a safe setting to practice skills and insights learned through individual therapy, and to give and receive authentic feedback. In real time, group members can practice working through emotions and reactions to others, and engage in new ways of responding, with the help of other members and leaders.
Group therapy provides opportunities to be vulnerable, take risks, and develop meaningful relationships within a safe setting. Group therapy can be challenging, yet powerful and most individuals report deep growth and meaningful reward from their experience. Individuals typically begin in one-on-one therapy prior to entering a group setting.
Supervision
I find great enjoyment in offering supervision to developing clinicians. I believe that good supervision provides space to explore, reflect upon and understand your reactions to clients in the context of your own history and relational patterns. I also work to help you hone your own therapy style, review and lend feedback on specific cases, and provide support around developing your own private practice. My supervisory style adjusts to meet your needs based on your current stage of development as a therapist. Feel free to contact me to learn more about my style or to schedule a meeting.
